Frequently Asked Questions

General

Which ports can charge at 100W?
Roam’s inbuilt USB-C cable as well as the C1 (middle USB-C port) can charge up to 100W.
Can I dispose of Roam in my general waste bin?

No. Roam’s lithium-ion battery, when unattended in an uncontrolled environment, may pose a long-term fire hazard.

Like other lithium-ion power banks, Roam must be disposed of at special collection points for safe processing.

Please consult your local authorities, or the retailer you purchased your power bank from, for the correct way to dispose of power banks like Roam.

Can I take Roam on flights with me?

Roam’s battery capacity of 21,000mAh or 76.65Wh (watt-hours) is safely below the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) guidelines for the maximum size power bank that can be taken on flights (99Wh) when in your carry-on luggage.

Like all personal power banks, Roam cannot be stored in checked luggage.

While the vast majority of airlines follow these guidelines, it remains at the discretion of individual airlines whether lithium-ion power banks are permitted.

Can Roam Power bank charge my Android phone?
Wireless

Roam’s Qi2 charger is compatible with any Android phone that supports Qi wireless charging, however, the phone needs to have a Magnetic Ring attached (sold separately, Part Code MSMRBK).

Compatible models include:
Samsung Galaxy S7 or later
Samsung Note 5 or later
Samsung Galaxy Z/Flip and Fold
Google Pixel 3 or later

Wired
Roam’s USB-C charging cable is compatible with the majority of Android phones, and can often charge phones much faster than Roam’s Qi2 charger.
Will Roam’s Qi2 charger work with my phone case?
Like other MagSafe-compatible chargers, Roam’s Qi2 charger is designed to work with phones using either:
a. MagSafe-compatible cases or;
b. Cases less than 4mm thick
Using a case thicker than 4mm without in-built MagSafe-compatibility is likely to interfere with wireless charging and your phone's adherence to the charger.
Why is the screen still on when nothing is charging?
To turn off the screen display when nothing is charging, press the power button twice.
Why isn’t the Roam Power Bank charging my devices?
Make sure the power bank is switched on by pressing the power button once. When on, the screen should show the battery percentage and a charging icon should be displayed.
The Roam Power Bank is charging itself but not my devices. How do I get it to charge?
When plugged in to power, to charge devices while the power bank is charging, press the power button once.
Why isn’t my device charging at 100W?

While Roam supports charging speeds of up to 100W over USB-C, many devices do not.

In order to charge at 100W, you must be using a cable and device which supports USB PD 3.1, a charging standard which was introduced in 2021.

Additionally, charging speed may vary due a number of factors, including how full the device being charged’s battery is, whether other devices are connected and their operating temperature.

Many laptops do not support charging speeds above 60-70W.

My Roam’s packaging and user manual list it as a 20,000mAh battery. Is this a different model?

No, all Roam power banks have the same battery capacity of 21,000mAh.

We apologise for any confusion this error which appears in Roam’s first production run may have caused.
